Boscombe Reflections, Boscombe Library, Bournemouth 2007

Previous Slide 18/19 Next

Commission to create a façade for the Boscombe Library (13m x 2m60) in Bournemouth. Following a series of workshops with local schools and community groups, the designs resulted in mirror polished, bead-blasted stainless steel panels with eight ‘stained-glass'windows, with imagery based upon the workshop materials plus images of ‘history and place' from that sea side town. The materials used, the metaphor and image content, and the reflections cast on the floor inside and out, give the project it's title. Launched November 6 2007. Funded by Bournemouth Council, Arts Council of England and SynergyHousing.
